What it is

A merchant is the top-level business entity in the API. It contains your general business information such as name, trade name, branch, type, status, default language, legal entity details, and features.

Why it exists

It exists to represent the business operating in the platform. It provides the top-level context for configuration, reporting, Applications, Stores, Accounts, subscriptions, and other resources.
