Test and go live

Test mode lets you walk through a real checkout without money moving. In this app the mode applies to your whole store, so you test everything at once and then switch the whole store over.

Run a test payment

1. Open the app and go to General settings.
2. Click Test credentials to confirm your keys work. If this fails, nothing else will.
3. Set Mode to No, I am testing.
4. Place an order in your store and pay with the method you want to test.
5. Check the result in the transaction overview in Buckaroo Plaza, and check that the order in Ecwid updated to match.

Each method has its own test flow, and some need test credentials or a test app. See Test transactions for what to enter per method.

What to test

Test the failure paths as well as the happy one, because that is where problems surface after go-live.

• A successful payment, and that the order in Ecwid reflects it.
• A cancelled payment, and that the order is not treated as paid.
• A refund, using the Refunds section of the app.
• One slow method such as bank transfer, so you can see how a pending order behaves.
• Your bank statement descriptions for both a payment and a refund, which you can read back on the transaction in Plaza.

Go-live checklist

Run through this before switching the store to live traffic.

Credentials and connection

• Your Store key and Secret key are the live credentials for the right Buckaroo Store

Payment methods

• Confirm the payment methods you want are active on your Buckaroo account. A method only appears at checkout once it is active in Plaza and switched on in the app
• Enable those methods in the app, and disable anything you are not using
• Make sure the app and its payment methods are in live mode, not test mode.
  This is the step that is easiest to forget, and without it your store takes no money
• Method-specific onboarding is complete: Apple Pay domain verification, PayPal onboarding, BNPL provider onboarding
• Every method you want to offer actually appears at checkout, in the order you expect

Configuration

• Transaction description is set and recognisable on a bank statement
• Refund description is set and recognisable on a bank statement

Testing

• Place one small real order and refund it from the app, to confirm the whole cycle works on live keys
• The order in Ecwid updates by itself once the payment is confirmed, rather than needing a nudge
• Refunding by order number works, since that is how refunds are done from the app

After go-live

• Watch the first day of orders for anything that stays unpaid
• Confirm settlement appears as expected in the Buckaroo Plaza
• Optional: subscribe to Buckaroo status updates for incidents and maintenance
