Common problems

Payments succeed but no money arrives

Your Mode is still set to No, I am testing. In test mode the checkout looks completely normal and orders come through, but nothing is charged.

Because Mode applies to your whole store, this affects every payment method at once. Change it in Configuration, then place one small real order to confirm.

A payment method is missing from my checkout

Work through these in order:

  1. The method is Disabled in the app. Enable it under Payment method settings.
  2. The method is not active on your Buckaroo account. The app lists every method it supports, including ones your account cannot use yet. Check the method in Buckaroo Plaza.
  3. The method does not accept the order's currency or the customer's country. Several methods are limited to one market, so they hide themselves rather than fail at payment. See Overview per country.
Cards work but one card brand is missing

Brands are chosen on Smart Checkout after the redirect, not in your Ecwid checkout, and they are limited by what you allow. Open Configure on Credit and debit cards and check the brand is among the allowed ones.

The brand also has to be active on your Buckaroo account, so check it in Buckaroo Plaza if allowing it changes nothing.

The payment succeeded but the order is still unpaid

Check the transaction in Plaza first. If Buckaroo shows the payment as pending rather than successful, the order is correct and it will update when the payment clears. Some methods, such as bank transfer, take days.

If Plaza shows the payment as successful and the Ecwid order still has not moved after a few minutes, contact support with the Buckaroo transaction key and the Ecwid order number.

I get an error about invalid credentials

Click Test credentials under General settings to confirm whether the keys are the problem.

The store key and secret key are different things and are easy to swap. The store key belongs to one store, the secret key to your whole account. Copy both again from Settings → API Keys in Plaza and check for a trailing space.

If your account has more than one store, also check you took the store key from the store this Ecwid store should report to. Test credentials passes with a key from the wrong store, so it cannot catch that one.

I cannot find an order in the Refunds section

The Refunds section searches on the order number as Buckaroo received it, so check the number against the transaction in Buckaroo Plaza rather than only against your Ecwid order list.

An order that never completed its payment has no transaction to refund, which is a common reason for a search returning nothing.

A refund is not showing in my Ecwid administration

That is expected. A refund made in the app's Refunds section, or in Plaza, does not create a credit note in Ecwid. Record it in Ecwid yourself. See Order management.

Didn't solve it? Contact support

Have these ready and support can look straight at the transaction rather than asking for them:

  • Your Buckaroo store key, but never your secret key.
  • The Buckaroo transaction key, from the transaction overview in Plaza.
  • The Ecwid order number.
  • The payment method, and whether your store was in test mode.
