Order management

Orders paid through a Buckaroo app are managed from your Shopify admin. Refunds and captures are sent to Buckaroo automatically, so you do not need to repeat them in Plaza.

Refunds

Refunds are initiated in Shopify against the order.

  1. Open the order under Orders.
  2. Select Refund.
  3. Set the quantity or amount you want to return. You can refund the full amount or part of it, and include or exclude shipping.
  4. Check that Refund method is set to Original payment, which returns the money through the Buckaroo payment method the customer used.
  5. Select Refund.

The refund amount available through the original payment is shown above the amount field. Shopify sends the request to Buckaroo, and the refund appears in Plaza alongside the original transaction.

Refund descriptions

Refunds use the credit transaction description configured in General settings. See Configuration.

Refund from Shopify, not from Plaza

Refunding in Plaza directly leaves the Shopify order showing as fully paid, because Plaza cannot write the refund back into Shopify. Your Shopify reporting and your Buckaroo reporting will then disagree. Use Shopify as the starting point for every refund.

Captures

Some payment methods support authorising a payment first and collecting it later. Credit and debit cards and Klarna support this; other methods are collected immediately.

Where a method supports it, Shopify's payment capture setting determines whether the payment is captured automatically when the order is placed or left for you to capture manually.

Cancellations

Cancelling an order in Shopify before the payment has been captured releases the authorisation. An order that has already been paid cannot be cancelled, only refunded.

Checking a payment in Plaza

Every transaction is visible in Plaza under Transactions. The transaction description you configured makes it possible to search by order number, which is the quickest way to match a Shopify order to a Buckaroo transaction.
