Checkout order

Customers in different countries expect different payment methods first. The Order Payment Methods screen lets you set the order your methods appear in, and set a different order per country.

Putting the method a country actually uses at the top saves customers hunting for it, which is worth doing before you go live rather than after.

Set the order

  1. Open the app at lightspeed.buckaroo.io and go to Order Payment Methods.
  2. Pick the country you want to arrange. Use All countries to set the default order that applies wherever you have not set a country specifically, or search for a single country in the list.
  3. Drag the methods into the order you want.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Open your own checkout from that country's storefront and confirm it looks right.

What you can order

The screen lists the methods that are currently set to Live or Test. Anything set to Off is left out, since there is nothing to position in a checkout it does not appear in. If a method you expected is missing, check its mode under Payment methods.

Methods that cover more than one variant appear here as separate entries rather than as one, so you can position each independently. Card brands are listed individually, and Klarna appears as both Klarna KP and Klarna MoR.

Card brands are worth arranging deliberately, because each one you switch on appears as its own option in the checkout rather than behind a combined card entry. Putting the brand a country actually carries above the rest is the same argument as ordering the methods themselves.

Country order and method availability

Ordering a method for a country does not make it available there. Two other things decide that, and both win over anything you set here:

  • Enabled Countries on the method's own settings page. If the country is not in that list, the method does not appear there however high you place it. See Payment methods.
  • The scheme behind the method. Many are limited to one market, so they hide themselves regardless of your settings. See Overview per country.
