Troubleshooting
Common problems with the Buckaroo apps for Shopify, and where to look first.
Buckaroo status
Before investigating your own configuration, check whether there is a known incident affecting the Buckaroo platform or a specific payment method.
Common problems
The payment method does not appear at checkout
Check each of the following:
- The app is installed and shows as Active under Settings → Payments.
- The payment method toggle inside the app is switched on.
- Your store key and secret key are saved in General settings for this Store.
- The payment method is enabled on your Buckaroo account in Plaza.
- The method supports the currency and country of the order.
Test Connection fails
Almost always a credentials problem:
- Re-copy both keys from Plaza under Settings → API Keys, taking care not to include leading or trailing spaces.
- Check you are looking at the right Buckaroo Store. The store key differs per Store, the secret key does not.
- Confirm the correct Shopify Store is selected in the settings panel, since each Store holds its own credentials.
The order stays unpaid after a successful payment
The customer completed the payment but Shopify did not record it. Check the transaction in Plaza first to confirm it succeeded, then check whether the app was in test mode at the time. If the payment succeeded in Plaza and the order is still unpaid, note the Buckaroo transaction key and the Shopify order number before reporting it.
Payments are simulated instead of charged
Test mode is still on for that payment method. It is set per method, so check each installed app separately under Settings → Payments.
Transactions from several Stores appear under one Buckaroo Store
The same store key has been used for more than one Shopify Store. Give each Store its own store key in its own configuration, selected through the Select Store dialog. Transactions already processed cannot be reassigned afterwards.
The refund option is greyed out or the amount is lower than expected
Shopify shows the amount still available through the original payment method. A partial refund already processed reduces what remains. Refunds made directly in Plaza are not known to Shopify and will not be reflected here.
The settings panel shows the wrong Store
Select the Store name at the top of the left menu and choose the correct one in the Select Store dialog. Settings you save always apply to the Store currently selected.
When reporting a problem, include your Shopify Store URL, the payment method and app involved, the Shopify order number, and the Buckaroo transaction key if you have it.
